The selection procedure of mechanical seal according to API682:
The API682 standard provides two standard seals suitable for mechanical seals for refinery pumps: push-ring type A seals, rotary welded metal bellows type B seals and static welded metal bellows type C seals. Three types of media: non-hydrocarbons, non-flash hydrocarbons (vapor pressure lower than 101.38MPa at delivery temperature) and flash hydrocarbons (vapor pressure higher than 101.38MPa at delivery temperature).
The sealing selection procedure recommended by API682 is shown in Figure 8~1.
