Technical characteristics of gas film mechanical seal:

(1) Features and technical advantages of gas film seal

The gas film mechanical seal was first developed by the John Crane Seal Company of the United States in the mid-1970s. It was first applied to high-speed turbo compressors. Industrial applications show that the gas film seal has the following characteristics:

① Zero escape of the sealed medium can be achieved, thereby avoiding pollution to the environment and process products; EA560 mechanical seal

②The sealing stability and reliability are obviously improved;

③No pollution to process gas;

④The sealing auxiliary system is greatly simplified;

⑤Operation and maintenance costs are significantly reduced, etc.

Table 3-5 compares the non-contact double end face gas film mechanical seal and the contact type double end face wet-running mechanical seal, from which the technical advantages of the gas film seal can be clearly seen.
