The structure is shown in Figure 4-3, which is a gas film mechanical seal structure with high operational reliability. As a standard sealing structure in the field of process gas transportation, it has a simple design and only requires a fairly simple gas assist system. 155 mechanical seal

In the tandem structure, two separate non-contact mechanical seals are placed one behind the other to form a two-stage seal. The medium side seal (primary seal) and the atmosphere side seal (secondary seal) can withstand the full pressure difference. In normal operation, the seal on the media side bears the entire pressure difference. The leakage between the medium side seal and the atmosphere side seal can be led to the flare through the interface 'C'. The pressure on the atmosphere side seal is the same as the torch pressure, so the amount of medium leakage to the atmosphere side and to the exhaust port is almost zero. During the use of this structure, when the primary seal fails, the secondary seal can be used as a safety seal to ensure that the medium will not leak into the atmosphere.

This type of seal is used for hazardous process gas compressors that allow trace process gas to enter the environment but do not allow inert gas to enter the machine.
