Anti-blister scar is a very important issue for carbon graphite for mechanical seal. The more common explanation for blisters is that a certain amount of fluid is absorbed by the carbon graphite base layer, and the base layer pressure is formed due to frictional heat to push out, forming scar-like pits. Blister scars are usually produced when using hydrocarbon products or temperature alternating occasions. Table 5-4 lists the tendency of blisters to occur when carbon graphite materials are paired with other materials under the specified experimental conditions. Under normal circumstances, when silicon carbide is used as the matching material, this blistering problem can be reduced or even eliminated. The pairing of silver oxide with various carbon graphites is not prone to blistering. 59B mechanical seal
