Teflon for mechanical seal:

PTFE is the leader among synthetic resin materials. The excellent corrosion resistance of the EA560(A) mechanical seal makes it can be used as a gasket in most of the strong corrosive media. It is especially suitable for the pharmaceutical and food industries that do not allow materials to be contaminated. It is the one with the highest temperature in plastics. However, the PTFE material is easy to cold flow after being compressed, and it is easy to creep after being heated, which affects the sealing performance. Some glass fibers, graphite, and molybdenum disulfide are usually added to improve creep resistance and thermal conductivity. Teflon gaskets are usually cut from sheets. It can also be combined with asbestos rubber plates and asbestos boards to make PTFE cushions. Its structure is shown in Figure 3-3.
