Cartridge seals do not need to determine the amount of compression themselves, because the entire seal has been set when installed, and non-cartridge seals should be measured according to different pump types.

The compression amount of the single-spring mechanical seal is 50%-70%, and the compression amount of the multi-spring (disc spring) is about 90%, that is, the mechanical seal is released after being crushed to 1.5~5mm. 3.5mm is enough. At the same time, it is necessary to consider the width of the sealing surface, the strength of the spring, and the state of force during operation.

Adjusting the amount of spring compression is to meet the spring specific pressure, not the amount of compression for the amount of compression, whether it is a single spring or multiple springs. Usually, the spring specific pressure of the mechanical seal of the pump is roughly controlled at about 1.3~2..8kgf/cm2. The optimal value depends on the actual working conditions, the matching material of the friction pair, the structure type of the auxiliary sealing ring of the compensation ring, and the K value of the cargo load factor, etc.
