General principles for installation and use of mechanical seals for pumps

Pump mechanical seal can be widely used in various types of pumps. It is a high-precision sealing device, which is very helpful for improving the performance of the pump. There are certain requirements, and the general principles that need to be followed are:

(1) To find out the situation of the equipment, it is necessary to understand the rotating speed and diameter of the rotating shaft of the equipment; the manufacturing accuracy of the equipment and the size of the sealing cavity, the service life of the equipment itself and the status of the equipment in the production process should be considered in a comprehensive and balanced manner , in order to better install and use the mechanical seal for the pump.

(2) Estimate medium pressure. The seal chamber pressure of the pump is generally not the outlet pressure of the pump, but is lower than the outlet pressure of the pump.

(3) Find out the condition of the sealing medium. It is necessary to know the state of the sealing medium, whether it is gaseous or liquid, whether the medium contains particles and the state of particles; understand the properties and temperature of the medium, so as to reasonably select the type and take necessary cooling, flushing and lubricating measures.

Reasonable selection of pump mechanical seals, and proper installation and use, can improve the working efficiency and working quality of the pump, and make the pump play its role more fully.
