Flushing of the basic process of the mechanical seal system function:

Flushing is the most effective measure to control temperature and extend the life of mechanical seals. From the function of the mechanical seal system, flushing is also the most important unit process. Flushing is essentially a direct cooling method. The purpose is to take away the hot zone, lower the temperature, prevent the vaporization of the liquid film, improve the lubrication conditions, and prevent dry running, accumulation of impurities and formation of airbags. Flushing methods include: forward flushing, back flushing, full flushing, and comprehensive flushing, as shown in Figure 6-12. According to the source and direction of the flushing fluid, there are self (internal) flushing, external flushing and circulating flushing. According to the flushing population, there are single-point straight flushing, single-point tangential flushing and multi-point flushing.
