Design conditions of mechanical seals:

The following items must be mastered before mechanical seal design:

(1) The type of pump and the location of the shaft seal using the shaft seal;

(2) Working parameters: pressure, temperature, peripheral speed (speed and shaft diameter) and their variation range;

(3) Media properties: density, viscosity, saturated vapor pressure, particle size and concentration of solid particles, corrosiveness and crystallization, polymerization, and decomposition conditions;

(4) Nature of work: continuous operation, number of start and stop, cycle, steering;

(5) Working environment: ambient atmosphere, ambient temperature and pressure, environmental conditions including pollution, corrosion, movement, available coolants, lubricants, and shaft seal position;

(6) In other cases, the type and usage of shaft seal used by the same type of pump.
