Control of deformation of mechanical seal:

In order to avoid the influence of the deformation of the sealing surface, try to control the deformation and take improvement measures. Generally, stress grooves can be opened on the structure or the cross-sectional shape of the seal ring can be changed to eliminate the influence of deformation, and a seal ring structure that keeps the end faces radially parallel is adopted. In addition, in order to reduce the influence of deformation, stress grooves are often opened at a distance from the sealing surface.

Due to the discomfort of material, structure and working conditions and careless design, operation, manufacturing and installation, mechanical seals cannot maintain geometric stability, causing thermal deformation and (or) force deformation of the seal, causing seal leakage or even aggravated failure to work . In order to keep the seal working normally and avoid and prevent the deformation of the mechanical seal, it is necessary to try to control the deformation of the seal.

The following principles should be paid attention to in design and use:

① Deformation coordination is a good design principle for achieving net zero deformation mechanical seal;

② Stress relief (stress relief) is an effective method to solve deformation;

③The compatibility of compatible materials is the first consideration when selecting materials;

④Considering the use of effective heat dissipation, cooling and flushing methods from the entire sealing system;

⑤ Although deformation is inevitable, it is necessary to try to use methods to control deformation, such as adopting compliant sealing, compensating sealing and various methods to reduce deformation.
