Cobalt-based tungsten carbide cemented carbide is the most widely used hard alloy in mechanical seal friction pairs, but it is not suitable for corrosive environments due to its poor bonding phase corrosion resistance. In order to overcome the defect of poor corrosion resistance of cobalt-based tungsten carbide cemented carbide, nickel-based carbide crane cemented carbide, containing 6% to 8% nickel, has greatly improved its corrosion resistance, but its hardness has been reduced. In some occasions, the use is subject to certain restrictions. Therefore, nickel-chromium-based tungsten carbide hard alloy appeared. It not only has good corrosion resistance, but its strength and hardness are equivalent to cobalt-based tungsten carbide hard alloy. It is a kind of corrosion-resistant hard alloy with very good performance. . Steel-bonded cemented carbide is a new type of friction pair material that people have found. It uses steel as the binding phase and titanium carbide as the hard phase. After proper heat treatment, it has the characteristics of high hardness (HRC62-72>, high wear resistance and high rigidity, and has good toughness and thermal shock resistance. It is suitable for occasions with drastic changes in temperature.
Tungsten carbide has high hardness, good wear resistance; high mechanical strength, good bending resistance; high thermal conductivity and low expansion coefficient, easy to derive the friction heat of the sealing surface; cobalt-free cemented carbide has good corrosion resistance. Table 5-11 lists the performance of domestic tungsten carbide. For the convenience of comparison, Table 5-12 lists the composition and properties of some foreign cemented carbides.
