Mechanical seal installation and precautions

The mechanical seal is a sealing device composed of two sealing elements (stationary ring and moving ring) that are perpendicular to the shaft, smooth and flat surfaces that are attached to each other and rotate relative to each other. It relies on the pressure of the sealing medium to generate an appropriate pressing force on the contact surface (end face) of the rotating moving ring and the static ring, so that the two end faces are tightly combined, and a very thin liquid film is maintained between the end faces to achieve sealing. purpose. This layer of liquid film has liquid dynamic pressure and static pressure, and plays the role of lubrication and balance force.

The mechanical seal installation and precautions are as follows:

1. After the relative position of the rotor and the pump body is fixed, determine the installation position of the mechanical seal, and calculate the positioning size of the seal on the shaft or shaft according to the installation size of the seal and the position of the static ring in the gland;

2. Install the moving ring of the machine seal. After the moving ring is installed, it must be ensured that it can move flexibly on the shaft;

3. Assemble the assembled static ring and moving ring;

4. Install the sealing end cover in the sealing body and tighten the screws.

The installation sequence of the mechanical seal can be installed in a certain order after the installation preparations are completed, to realize the installation of the stationary parts in the end cover and the installation of the torsion parts on the shaft, and finally realize the overall combined installation of the seal.
