PTFE spring seals are U-shaped spring-energized sealing functions with single-acting sealing elements. System pressure assists the spring to create a leak-tight seal between the sealing lip and mating metal parts. Springs facilitate minimal misalignment, boot wear and consistent seal pressure against desired targets.
PTFE spring seals are specifically designed to overcome problems associated with PTFE composites or other high performance plastics. They are suitable for static, rotating and reciprocating applications with temperatures ranging from -200 ºC to 300 ºC, pressures ranging from vacuum to 700 kg/cm and velocities up to 20 m/s, allowing them to survive the most corrosive environments. Three different types of spring boosters are available in stainless steel, corrosion resistant metal alloys such as Elgiloy and Hastelloy to meet the toughest corrosion and high temperature applications.
Spring seals can replace most O-rings used in mechanical seals and extend overall seal performance and service life in highly corrosive chemical, petrochemical processes.
Elastomeric seals are used in dynamic and static applications where elastomeric seals cannot meet the extreme operating conditions of harsh environments. Additionally, springs are activated in hydraulic components requiring low friction, high side loads and corrosive vapor environments.
