V-ring of mechanical seal:

The V-ring of the mechanical seal is generally made of polytetrafluoroethylene. Due to the poor elasticity of polytetrafluoroethylene material, it relies on structural deformation to make its lip close to the shaft or sleeve to achieve sealing. The typical structure is shown in Figure 2-15. The angle of the cone space in the V-shaped ring matches the angle of the chamfered cone on the rear side, and the first three structures are the same. The matched V-shaped ring is composed of 2 V-shaped rings and a supporting ring, while the 45***** matched V-shaped ring is composed of V-shaped ring, supporting ring, and supporting ring.

When designing the V-ring, its size must also be compatible with the relevant size of the sealing part. Figure 2-16 shows the dimensions of the V-ring and related parts. Taking into account the reciprocity of rubber O-rings and PTFE V-rings, the same nominal size can be used in the design. The cross-sectional shape and dimensions of the V-shaped ring are shown in Figure 2-17, Table 2-13, and Table 2-14. The V-shaped auxiliary sealing ring of the static ring is usually paired with a V-shaped ring and a supporting ring. When the V-shaped seal ring actuates the ring to assist in sealing, the two X-shaped rings are used overlappingly, and the end of the push ring is processed into the same shape and size as the support ring to replace the function of the support ring.

Rubber O-rings and PTFE V-rings are the first choice as auxiliary sealing elements in most occasions, but under some special process conditions, bellows can be used instead. The PTFE bellows used under low pressure and strong corrosion conditions can not only prevent the leakage of the medium along the shaft (or sleeve), but also play the role of the auxiliary sealing ring of the moving ring, and at the same time, it can also separate the spring from the sealed medium. Open to prevent the spring from being corroded by the sealing medium. Because the metal bellows mechanical seal eliminates the need for rubber or plastic seals, it can be used in high and low temperature conditions. The use of rubber bellows as auxiliary seal and elastic element can make the mechanical seal structure simple and compact, easy to install and cheap, suitable for low parameter conditions where the working pressure is not more than 1.5MPa and the temperature is not more than 100°C.
