The function of the mechanical seal system:

(1) Washing function

Flushing is a very basic function of the mechanical seal system, and it is also a very common working method of the mechanical seal system. Liquid is directly injected into the high-pressure side of the single-end seal or double-end seal. Generally, mechanical seals should be flushed, especially for mechanical seals used in light hydrocarbon pumps. When flushing, the purpose of isolating medium, cooling and improving lubrication is achieved. The purpose of isolating the medium can be achieved by flushing the sealed cavity with a liquid compatible with the medium for external circulation.


(2) The function of adjusting and controlling the sealing working temperature

The mechanical seal system has the function of regulating and controlling the temperature of the working environment of the mechanical seal itself. The adjustment and control of temperature include cooling and heat preservation. The medium with high saturated vapor pressure absorbs the stirring heat of the mechanical seal and the friction heat of the end face in the sealing cavity, causing the temperature to rise; if it is insufficient to cool down, it is very likely to cause the medium to vaporize on the end face, which will deteriorate the lubrication of the end face and cause the seal invalidated. For the medium that is easy to crystallize and solidify, insulation measures must be taken to prevent the medium from crystallizing and solidifying.
