The basic flow of mechanical seal system function flushing from (internal) flushing:

Self-flushing refers to the use of the sealed medium itself to realize the flushing of the seal. Figure 6-12(b) Positive flushing is to use the liquid at the higher pressure inside the pump (usually the pump outlet) as the flushing fluid; Figure (c) Backflushing is to draw the sealed medium from the shaft seal box back to the pressure in the pump The lower part (usually the pump inlet) is flushed by the sealed medium itself; Figure (d) Full flushing is to introduce the sealed medium from the high pressure side of the pump (pump outlet), and then draw the sealed medium from the shaft seal box back to the pump Circulating flushing is performed on the low pressure side. It can be seen that positive flushing, back flushing and full flushing are all self-flushing. Self-flushing is suitable for occasions where the pressure in the sealed cavity is less than the pump outlet pressure and greater than the pump inlet pressure.
