Correct installation and maintenance of pump mechanical seal

Preparatory work and matters needing attention before installation of mechanical seal

Preparations must be made before installing the mechanical seal:

1. If a new mechanical seal is replaced, it is necessary to check whether the model and specification of the mechanical seal are correct and whether the quality meets the standards;

2. The end of the anti-rotation groove at the tail of the static ring and the top of the anti-rotation pin should maintain an axial gap of 1mm-2mm to avoid buffer failure;

3. Clean the end faces of the dynamic and static rings with alcohol, and clean the rest of the metal parts with gasoline and dry them with clean compressed air. Check carefully to ensure that there is no damage to the sealing surfaces of the dynamic and static rings. Before assembly, the two '0'-shaped rubber sealing rings should be coated with a layer of lubricating oil, and the end faces of the dynamic and static rings must not be oiled.

The components of the mechanical seal and their related assembly contact surfaces must be cleaned with acetone or absolute alcohol before installation. It should be kept clean during installation, especially the dynamic and static rings and auxiliary sealing components should be free of impurities and dust. Apply a layer of clean engine oil or turbine oil to the surfaces of the dynamic and stationary rings.
