Basic parts of mechanical seals - requirements for friction pair seal rings

The mechanical seal is composed of many different parts, among which the friction pair seal ring is the main component, which largely determines the performance and life of the mechanical seal. Therefore, there are some basic requirements for its use.

(1) The friction pair sealing ring has sufficient strength and rigidity

To ensure that the mechanical seal is not damaged under working conditions (such as pressure, temperature, sliding speed, etc.), the deformation is small, and the impact of fluctuations in working conditions is small.

(2) The end face has sufficient hardness and corrosion resistance to ensure service life.

(3) The mechanical seal friction pair sealing ring has high thermal conductivity and low coefficient of linear expansion due to thermal shock resistance.

(4) Small friction coefficient, good self-lubrication, good wettability between material and medium, and short-term dry friction without damaging the end face.

If the friction pair seal ring cannot meet the basic requirements, then it cannot guarantee that the mechanical seal can have good performance for a long time, and it will also affect the use effect of the mechanical seal.
